SCAD – The Design Manifesto (2023)

Hello all,

I’m now rolling into the 7th week here at SCAD, and it’s been a bit on the crazy side. Three courses is not an easy load with everything condensed into a matter of ten weeks. So far, I’m pulling away with Bs in all three, but at times I have felt overwhelmed with a lot going on and have asked for help on numerous occasions.

That said, I’ve managed to roll out a couple new ideas, one of them being my own design manifesto as required in one course. At first it was a bit hard to read and understand because I had the text spread far too out and had no “space” in my original poster design.

Eventually, I landed on doing a t-shirt design for my own design manifesto with a fist with a paintbrush on the front and words on the back reading “YOU have the POWER to CREATE a better WORLD.”

I went through a few iterations before landing on this particular idea of the fist with a paintbrush. The paintbrush was not as clearly defined as in the final product. I would’ve liked (and still eventually could) do a 3-D model of the first I created in Illustrator, but the learning curve is not easy, and time has not been on my side. That said, the results are below. I’ll update this blog in hopefully a week with an update on the “Transmission” movement.

Edit (02/18/2025) – Updated the Manifesto to more reflect myself, saying “YOU have the POWER to CREATE a better YOU”
